Behold, my first ever mini: the Ogre with an ‘artisanal’ harpoon! This beauty was born in my dad's basement when I stumbled upon the Ogre Hoards expansion and decided to get creative. Armed with nothing but sheer enthusiasm and a bottle of that infamous brown Gorilla Glue (yeah, that one), I made my first attempt at kitbashing.
Young me thought, "Why not give him a harpoon?" So, I grabbed a pair of dull clippers, hacked a harpoon off a troll from the Mines of Moria set, and slapped it on the Ogre’s fist with enough Gorilla Glue to ensure it would survive an apocalypse. The result? A sticky, brown mess and a permanently confused Ogre who has no idea why he’s holding a harpoon, or how.
I keep this masterpiece on display on my portfolio, and my desk as a reminder that we all start somewhere, even if it’s with questionable glue choices and a lot of imagination. If you’re ever feeling down about your own work, just remember: every pro was once a Gorilla Glue enthusiast.
